Community Service Tax Credit Grant 2022-23 Awarded to EPF!
Big News!
Eskridge Park Foundation was awarded $30,000 in tax credits from the Kansas Department of Commerce and we are thrilled! We applied in April and were notified in July that we would be recipients of these credits. And this money is for you!
Community Service (CSP) Tax Credits have been issued in the Sunflower State since 1994. The program provides a 70 percent tax credit to qualified donors in rural communities (populations less than 15,000). The credits are a direct deduction from the donor's state tax obligation.
For example, a donor making a $1,000 gift in a rural community receives a $700 tax credit when they file their state taxes, making the net cost to the donor only $300. The minimum donation to qualify for the credits is $250.
For those of you who wrote a pledge letter for our application, thank you! You have until December of 2023 to make your donation. Even better news, anyone can donate in both this year and next as long as we have credits available. Our goal is to raise $42,857, which will use all of our $30,000 in tax credits, so we don’t have to give any back!
The sooner you donate, the better for the park! Please help us give away those credits by making your donation of at least $250! To assist, we have made donating much easier. You can now donate online through our website with Venmo or PayPal HERE.
Our playground will be installed October 20-21, 2022 and the money donated to this Tax Credit Campaign will go towards surfacing our new play equipment along with other improvements like a custom stone entry sign.
Make plans to come to the park for Eskridge Fall Festival on October 29 to try out our new play space, which will be installed as part of MCP Group’s Day of Giving on Friday, October 21st!
Here are a few comments about our community from the grant reviewers at the Kansas Department of Commerce regarding our application for the CSP Tax Credit Program. Our community is amazing and deserves to be recognized for all the dollars and hours you have given the Eskridge Park!
The project was identified as a NEED of the community vs. a WANT.
Significant community support for their parks, both financially and by volunteering. This will assist the community to continue developing a sustainable place for families and children in town.
For a small community, they have shown they have accomplished a lot to get to where they are in their fundraising projects. The community has shown confidence in supporting projects and sound confident in this project as well.
Innovative in finding a temporary option to complete the park and not hold up the project. This allows for the community to move forward while pursuing additional funds. The community shows strong support.
The desire to 'mark things off the master plan is a rewarding and energizing thing to read! Good for them! Having a foundation in such a small community is another breath of fresh air! This could also be another chance for the foundation to continually invest in their community through potential childcare services, entrepreneurship, or even a maker space to engage members of their community of all ages (especially youth!) I admire their dedication and commitment to staying the course---fundraising efforts the past 3 years and even more so thinking of the community first by '...giving them the return on their investment...' instead of surfacing the park first.
Your application was exceptional in the effective use of words, accuracy in following directions, and professionalism.
The amount of community support had them rank you as “fully confident” that you would be able to sell all of the credits.
Thank you as always for all the ways you support our park projects! We are checking things off the Master Plan list with your help and it’s a great feeling to watch Eskridge thrive.
